Fishing on the brain
Yes it is that time of year when it seems all we think about is ice fishing. New gear and equipment always adds excitement to the season and helps bear the cold temps we have been having. Weather and ice conditions keeps it interesting, and the fish continue to be fish ultimately deciding how well the bite will be. For example the temperature has recently warmed up considerably and yesterday proved to be a welcome change above freezing daytime temps. Even the fishing was great as a result and the bait shop today was a constant stream of optimistic fishermen buying bait and hooks as the word on the lake was fish are biting, they turned on! The word was not golden and as the actual state of the bite today was,,,,,,,,slow. Same shacks in the same spot that showed buckets of fish yesterday hardly got a nibble today! Head scratcher for sure. On the plus side our guests caught more fish today than anyone else on the lake did, that was a great relief!
One thing for sure tomorrow will be different and we will be there on the lake trying our best to wrangle a few topside. Hindsight is 20/20 in this business of hopeless prediction of nature`s best. It may take some winter trolling to get on them but it is what we do.
Stay tuned for more news on the exciting winter fishing excursions we have, as it is only getting started!
