Hard on the wood pile!
Wind and cold temperatures have really hindered our plans for this winter. Mother nature, who seems to have something against me at times, has thrown another curve ball and put us into the deep freeze. We are having our Jan weather now. As the old timers say "awful hard on the wood pile".
We have completed our mixing of bait and now are waiting for the weather to settle down so we can haul it out to the sites.
I haven't been fishing on the lake since Christmas as we are busy with hunt sales and preparing for the spring. I have spoken with some very nice people who are coming hunting here this year so we are looking forward to hosting their hunts.
So far to date we have 3 wolves down and plans for more. I know nature takes care of itself with natural cycles but i sure hope this cold is making things difficult for the wolves, i know it is hard on everything else. I am always amazed at the strength and tenacity of the wild critters who inhabit our part of the world. Can you imagine surviving out in this cold windy winter?
Let alone without any decent shelter, food or extra clothing. The animals have to eat lots in order to maintain fat layers for fighting the cold. They also have to move to find food, and for some to avoid being eaten. At least there isn't a whole bunch of snow, maybe a foot or two. When it is -40 and a 30 mile wind and i am running around trying to keep the fires burning and plugging in the truck, i always think about those poor critters with only the hair on their backs to get them through the night. Tough critters living in a tough place, it's no wonder the place isn't crowded. TOO COLD!
Hang em high.
