Progress at Riverside
It's cold outside, and there are more jobs needing done than daylight hours. Can't seem to keep up, especially when it takes 2 days just to clean the yard of snow. I am reminded how badly i need a large snowblower! Now that we have our buildings in place and a real layout of the yard i see all the bottlenecks for pushing snow.
Our building projects are grossly behind schedule, due to weather and a slow arse contractor this past fall. Time flew by again and as always, when our fall hunts start we focus on that obligation, and building projects took second place. We had plans of putting up the log siding on the lodge. That didn't happen so we we thought maybe we would stain the logs in the lodge basement and then put them up. Well with some research i learned the stain needs 40 days to cure before it freezes, so there goes that plan. The lodge will be bare until next summer.
The garage is coming along nicely, walls and roof up, shingles going on this week. Hoping doors are in and then electrical and insulation next. Sure will be nice to have a WARM place to work on cold machines. Life will be better when that project is done.
All in all things are coming together well. The lodge is a beautiful big building and now we are taking our time to finish the interior to a rustic but classy finish. Joanne has added her touch to the bathrooms and found old dressers to make into vanities. All that is left is some trim work inside, and i am custom maing all of that myself.
The lodge and cabins are all winterized and ready for winter guests. We offer ice fishing shack rentals, cabin and/or Lodge rentals by the weekend or week for ice fishing or even for snowmobile trips as there are some really good in the area. Or even just for a nice quiet place to stay, only minutes from Dauphin.
All i can say is we are very thankful to have all of our buildings and business here at Dauphin Lake. This is also our home and we enjoy being able to live and work right here. We are reaching our milestones as time flys by, but none the less, what we wish for seems to appear. Dreams come true, especially when you work your but off for them! On that note, just remembered a few more things to write on my list of to dos. It's a pretty long list!
