Waterfowl, racoons and bears
Wow, boat loads of birds this spring. It is noisy here with geese and ducks, they fly over from roost to feeding morning and night and will likely see a few pairs nesting. It has been cold and snowing this past week and they are likely wondering why they came so early! I thought the critters were better weather predictors but they get blind sided too.
I did my part to rid the area of egg eatin coons, but there are still lots left. Counted 27+ within 4 miles of the place the other night. They were eating mice along the fields and ditches, all over the place.
Bear hunting is going to be great this spring if the weather stays course. The bears will be eating early if it stays warm as they are likely slowly moving about now. They don't get onto real heavy food till they "evacuate" their bowels of the grass plug. They need to eat greens for the first days once leaving the den. Then they will slowly start eating heavier food. So, with an early spring, it all happens sooner, which makes for lots of bait eatin bears come mid May.

That line between our respective tracts of soil means nothing to the animals we pursue, as it does not to us.

There is that famous "buck down smile" of hers. Lily has shot many deer, her biggest was in 2021 but this one is a dandy too.
